Donald Trump is not a person, he is a brand.
A brand that appears to be tarnished since most Republican candidates want nothing to do with him.
Newt said this.
“I think if you’re afraid to debate with Donald Trump, people are going to say, ‘so you want me to believe you can debate Barack Obama, but you’re afraid to show up with Donald Trump?’” Gingrich told Fox News’ Greta Van Susteren. “And I think — it strikes me it’s kind of a very weak position. I don’t know why people would do that.”
Newt evidently doesn’t understand debates. If your moderating a debate, your actually not part of the debate, so they wouldn’t, shouldn’t be debating Trump. Moreover, participating in a Trump debate would do nothing to help you debate Obama. Did Newt not see the White House correspondents dinner where Obama completely embarrassed the Donald.
Trump isn’t even a political lightweight, he is a political non-entity.
